Global Design
Located in Cairns, Queensland the Great Barrier Reef was the first coral ecosystem in the world listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World located on the northeastern coast of Australia. This visitor center will educate guests about how the reef was formed and its significance to marine life. The design was inspired by corals - its curvilinear shape demonstrates a contemporary design through movement and form.
Thesis
Senior citizens who are 65 years old and over live in relative poverty and struggle with loneliness, depression, and sometimes suicide. The Guryong Senior Center provides an intergenerational community for the elderly to help compensate for the issues associated with a rapidly emerging aging population in South Korea. The design of the facility was inspired by the hanok, the traditional Korean house. Its sustainable and clean qualities will create a familiar, family-like atmosphere for the elderly who are socially isolated.
Commercial Design
Seventh Generation is a private American company that sells cleaning, paper, and personal care products designed with human health and the environment in mind. They are opening a new division that will occupy approximately 14,500 sq. ft. in a new office building in Philadelphia, PA. This office will be used as a collaborative workplace where they can focus on developing new product ideas for the corporation, as well as collaborate with market and financial partners.
